Castle Combe Circuit at Autosport International

Displaying on stand CM22 in the Motorsport News National Motorsport Area, Hall 10, the Castle Combe Racing Club and Castle Combe Circuit is looking forward to updating you on its news for the 2008 season.

Here are some of our highlights:

Halfords discount deal for Racing Club members

Competitors and marshals belonging to the Castle Combe Racing Club may now enrol as trade customers with motoring retail giant Halfords, allowing them to purchase consumables such as oil and spark plugs and many other items at substantial discounts.  Once members have been issued with their Halfords Trade Card, purchases can be made in any one of Halfords retail stores.

The deal is thought to be unique within British motorsport and is the latest example of the club’s philosophy to add value to those contributing to the sport. Already, around £80,000 has been returned to competitors in the last two years, through its pioneering cash back system.

A Halford’s spokesperson said, “As a company we have a long history in British Motorsport and we are delighted to extend this scheme to that great bunch of unsung heroes, the Castle Combe marshals”.

Sponsors Renew

Further examples of the value for money those involved with Castle Combe Circuit receive is evidenced by the longevity of its sponsorship base.

2008 will be the fifteenth successive year of sponsorship by National Mobile Windscreens who again back the circuit’s popular Saloon Car Championship. This will be the 20th year the company’s directors, George Douglas and Phil Lomas have been involved with the circuit, initially running a car in the Special GT Championship.

savesometax.co.uk, a Swindon based financial services company, is back for the third consecutive year as sponsor of the Special GT Championship, which in 2007 ran with record numbers, on occasions demanding two separate races as entry levels reached an all time high.

Negotiations with other sponsors continues.

New Subaru’s for Racing School

The exciting new Subaru Impreza is eagerly awaited on the World Rally Championship scene and will be on show on the Pro-Drive stand at Autosport International along with the new Sti.

For those wanting to get behind the wheel of this completely re-designed new model on the track, Castle Combe’s Racing School is the place to go. As part of its long-term agreement with Subaru, a fleet of the new Impreza Sti’s will be delivered in the next few weeks, with the possibility to get behind the wheel from just £210.00, the cars feature in three of the circuit’s popular driving courses.

Rally School Revs Up

Castle Combe’s Rally School is moving ahead in 2008 with more days available and improvements to its course and facilities.  This popular addition to the range of driving activities at Castle Combe Circuit has been a great success since being launched in 2006.

Howard Strawford, Chairman of Castle Combe Circuit said on the announcement, “following intensive discussions with the local authority and in the context of our tight environmental controls, we were delighted the council has given permission to allow this exciting driving opportunity to now run on Saturday’s as well as its usual mid-week slots.  We now hope to develop additional courses too, although the excellent value of our Rally Drive Course at just ÂŁ155.00 will continue to be the backbone of the activities”.

Circuit Improvements

A raft of circuit improvements will take place through the current winter with a new start line gantry being the most visual.  Increased protection for the thousands of visitors who enjoy Castle Combe’s tradition of short sharp races comes from additional debris fencing, whilst marshals’ posts will also be given additional protection.

A new internal directional sign system is also being installed together with increased parking areas for the disabled.
